Our Trews Our Trews
Trews is simply the Gaelic for trousers (triús - Irish Gaelic, triubhas - Scots Gaelic). Some say this is a more ancient dress than the kilt. We can provide a range of tartan trousers from military style trews with the fishtail back, to simple trousers.

This McIan print shows Colquhoun of Luss out for a stroll on a blustery day. As you can see the trews in those days were skin tight, with a single seam at the back of the leg. Today they have evolved into two main styles shown below. About the only real difference between "trews" and "trousers" is the high waist.

We pay particular attention to detail in order to provide you with a comfortable, yet elegant garment. The waistband comes with an extension tab closed with a hook and eye. The right inner fly has a continuous 'French bearer' extension tab made from same material as the trouser.

Our trews are normally made from Medium weight 13oz tartan.
