Argyll Tweed Kilt Outfit
Argyll Tweed Kilt Outfit
This is the less formal highland morning dress and is probably what you would wear to a Highland Gathering. Many people will also wear it as a wedding outfit where it is considered the formal equivalent of a suit. Some prefer the Charcoal Tweed option for Weddings as it is slightly more formal that a lovat tweed. Purists would say that it would be incorrect to wear a tartan tie, and a plain wool tie or regimental/club tie is probably more correct. Purists would probably also suggest that plain hose rather than diced hose is more correct in the daytime. White or cream hose is very definitely wrong with a tweed jacket. Traditionalists would say you should wear hand knitted wool socks - that were often bought in the local jumble sale!! Pick any heathery or country colour, one colour from the kilt, or even something wild like burgundy (as worn by Prince Charles) - anything but white, cream or ecru!!
